Egyptian student union 2

If this revolution has proved anything other than our ability to change, it would be the true power of the youth most of which being university students. The strongest two classes of the Egyptian society are the youth(students) which called for the uprising and the working class which actually made the revolution possible by the strikes of the workers on the last two days of the revolution.

After the revolution and the amazing spirit we saw in Tahrir i started thinking how we can keep this spirit alive between the Egyptian students as one of the most effective political powers in Egypt if not the most.
that is when i remembered Shafick's dream of last Summer "The Egyptian Student Union".


What we want is very clear; a representation in the parliament and the cabinet, recognition from the government and a new bylaws written by the students that allows the formation of the ESU, gives the right to all students to take part in political activities, recognizes the SUs of private universities and ensure free SUs in all universities.

These demands will ensure the return of the student movement with all it's power again and we will have a strong political power that will ensure that the government will always work for the good of the Egyptian people not their own interests like what happened in the uprising of 1977.

how come?? a month ago zuwail stated that he has nothing to do with the university it's properties and now he is starting his project on it's campus??
and is this decision different from what used to happen from the old regime??
another point of view; this is some one who lived almost all of his life in the U.S.A. and has an american nationality and is the US envoy for science in the middle east and actually took an award in science from Israel, who is he actually loyal to? is he ready to give all of this up to serve Egypt??!!!

He is just some one who got a university for free, without actually making any effort or spending a penny, is this a right decision? isn't this corruption?
where is the students' rights in the campus??
and if Nile University became part of his project, who will own the intellectual property and the researches of the university? is it zewail; the American citizen?

these questions need answers and immediate ones from the revolutionary government and from zewail

The Egyptian student union

This is an initiative aiming to unite all Egyptian students together in one union to channel their voices and represent them in the parliament and in front of the government. 

This will bring back the student movement as strong as it was in the 20th century before it was destroyed and pressed by el Sadat's decision to issue the student bylaws of 1979 which crushed the student movement and limit the power of the ESU (Egyptian Student Union), followed by Mubarak's oppression to the students using Sadat's bylaws which allowed policemen to be on university campus and using security agents recruited by state security.

Last summer i was the VP of the Nile University's SU when i received a call from Khaled Youseif a member of the high board of the American university's SU asking to meet some one from our union because they are starting a new organization to collect all the SUs in Egypt. The president of the union (Mahmoud Hossam) and i went to the meeting and spoke to Khaled and Hesham Shafick(president of the AUC's SU) and they explained the what is the organization and why do they want to start it and i was amazed with Shafick's vision of uniting all Egyptian students to be one voice and one hand. They invited us to a 3-day conference at AUC to initiate the ESU and 10 other universities were also invited.
As we were waiting for the bus to take us to AUC i got a call from Shafick saying that the conference was cancelled because 9 out of 10 universities called and said they won't be able to come because they received calls at 2 in the morning asking them not to go to the conference. Some of these calls were from the presidents of their universities and some were even from state security agents. 
unfortunately we couldn't meet again but i couldn't let the idea of Egyptian student united together under 1 umbrella out of my mind.

إستغاثة من طلبة جامعة النيل

الى من يهمه الأمر/

بعد كل التحية و التقدير لشعب مصر على المجهود العظيم فى تحرير و تطهير البلاد من الظلم و الفساد ورغبة منا كأبناء للوطن فى المساعدة على النهوض به لم نجد غير المجتمع المدنى و جميع أبناء و بنات هذا البلد العظيم لحل مشكلتنا.

نحن طلاب جامعة النيل نناشد شعب مصر التدخل السريع لاانقاذ هذه الجامعة.. لقد التحقنا بهذه الجامعة لايماننا برسالتها فى النهوض بتعليم والبحث العلمى فى مصر, و يقود العملية التعلييمية بالجامعة نخبة رائعة من الأساتذة والعلماء المصريين الذين درسوا بالخارج وعادوا لكى يفيدوا أبناء وطنهم بعلمهم. لم يبخلوا على أبناء هذا الوطن بعلم أو جهد ساعين الى جمع الدعم من جهات حكومية وخاصة لانشاء هذا الصرح التعليمى. فهى الجامعه الوحيده التى تواكب كبرى الجامعات الاجنبية ولكن بروح وضمير مصرى خالص..

المشكلة التى نواجهها الان، ان الهجوم العنيف الذى تعرضت له الجامعة أدى الى عدم تمكيننا من استخدام مقر الشيخ زايد مما يحول دون تقدم العملية التعليمية بشكل سليم حيث اننا لا نستطيع أن نستخدم الورش والمعامل المجهزة فى هذا المقر مما يعطل مستقبلنا الدراسى.

فنحن نناشد المجلس الأعلى للقوات المسلحة, نناشد الدكتور عصام شرف و مجلس الوزراء, جميع مؤسسات المجتمع المدنى, نناشد

 كل باحث و عالم و أستاذ جامعى على أرض مصر و خارجها, نناشد كل طالب يتمنى تعليم أفضل, نناشد كل أب يتمنى تعليم أفضل لأولاده, نناشد كل مصرى يتمنى النهوض بمصرنا الغالية.

أن تساندونا فى المطالبة بتمكين الجامعة من مباشرة العمل فى مقر الشيخ زايد لتمكيننا من استخدام المعامل والورش المجهزة, و سرعة التصديق على قرار المجلس الأعلى للجامعات بتحويل جامعة النيل الى جامعة أهلية لتاكيد صفة عدم الربح للجامعة.

لقد خرجنا يوم 25 يناير نطالب بغد أفضل للبلاد لذا نحن نثق بعدم سماحكم بأن أن تكون احدى نتائج الثورة هدم كيان هدفه الوحيد تأهيل الشباب بالعلم والعمل . كلنا ثقة فى انكم لن تسمحوا ان يضيع مستقبلنا وأبحاثنا وعملنا  فى سبيل الوطن هباءً بل أنكم سوف تحافظون على هذا الكيان وتشجعوننا على الاستمرار فى هذه المسيرة العلمية نحو مستقبل أفضل لمصرنا العظيمة.

نحن نعلم دقة وخطورة موقف البلاد حاليا ونقدر ضيق وقت
